I became aware of wanting to share my enjoyment of dragonfly gifts while discussing it with some friends. We said how it would be nice to be able to have somewhere to go and find these items. I never thought there were so many people who enjoyed the dragonfly as I do, but I began to see there were many possibilities. So, I decided to act on it and create dragonflygiftitems.com.

If you’ve ever really tried to look at a dragonfly’s wing’s they almost look iridescent with their unending movements. They can also look almost like tiffany glass. Their movements are sometimes hypnotizing. They dart around gracefully, but always seem hurried. It’s when they are momentarily still, that you can see the amazing beauty they present.

The Dragonfly is said to symbolize prosperity, good luck, strength, peace and harmony. It is also said that a dragonfly necklace symbolizes purity, good luck and power.  Mythology states that a if a dragonfly lands on your ring finger, it can signify you are close to marriage or you will have a long and happy life! 1. That dragonfly ring at the bottom of this page is gorgeous. Dragonflies are such beautiful creatures, it’s a shame how rare they are to see in central London these days. I used to see lots of them when I was a kid.

When I was about 6 or 7 years old I found an injured dragonfly with a damaged wing. So I took it in, I put it in a little container and researched what to feed it. I nursed it back to health and released it back into nature. It was so beautiful. Dragonflies have had a place in my heart ever since.

Lovely website. I will have to buy something here when I have a bit more money available.

    1. Thank you for visiting! I still have work to do, but I will make sure you know about it! I see Dragonflies all summer long here on Long Island. They have always had a special place in my heart.

  2. Dragonflies are so beautiful, I’ve been working hard to make sure my boys treat them gently when they come across them. I love the iridescent shimmer of their wings, and the amazing colors they can have!
Great idea for a website, dragonfly lovers will be happy to have this resource!

  3. Hi Rebecca,
The ring at the bottom of your post is beautiful – so delicate and dainty. Dragonflies are lovely aren’t they? I particularly like giving gifts that have meaning. I wasn’t aware of what dragonflies symbolize, but now that I know I would be interested in checking out the items you have available. I find it more thoughtful to search for gifts that either benefit others, or have some meaning behind them – shows how much you care.

  4. hi Rebecca!
I had not given much thought about dragonflies but I do agree that they are beautiful creatures. Their wings can have so many different colors depending on where the light hits them. Powerful yet very delicate at the same time. Look forward to see what gift ideas you come up with and introduce to us.

  5. I also get hypnotized by their movement, they move like a flame. I heard something like Egyptian or Native American mythology that they believed that this creature lives by eating from the air, and that’s why they were representing purity and happiness.
I think they will look beautiful on jewelry. Especially if it comes in a set of jewelry (necklace, earring,…)

    1. Hi Jagulba, yes, the jewelry is beautiful. I have just started a shopping section with a few items and will be adding more. I am just starting to pull everything together, so give me a bit. But, feel free to look at what I have so far! Thanks for checking out my site.

  6. Hi Rebecca!

What a refreshing site! I love dragon flies and butterflies. We have a pond here were I live and we get so many different sizes and colors. They are amazing and it is nice to have a website that is dedicated to them.

I didn’t know they were considered evil back then. What a shame! They are as harmless as can be. People should just sit down and watch one for a while. They are so cool to watch!

Good luck for the future and hope your site reaches many!

    Cheers Erica 🙂

    1. Hello Erica!
Thanks for visiting! I hope to bring a little enlightenment about these beautiful creatures. If you see some of my other posts, you will see the other cultures hold them to much more endeared status. I am just trying to show people how the different views of people around the world see the dragonfly.

  7. What an original idea Rebecca! Beautiful website & I love all the history and mythology around these beautiful creatures. Who would have thought? Thanks for teaching me something new and opening my eyes to the wonder of this small part of nature. I will, in turn, teach this to my children. Ooh, perhaps you could write a little Dragonfly story like the “Very Hungry Caterpillar” story for children?

    1. Hi, Lauren! Lol! That’s my next blog! One of the stories about the dragonfly. I am putting it together and will have it out shortly. I’m very happy you enjoyed my site and I hope you come back to visit soon to see the story I post.
